"Great environment, Great teacher, Great Class, Great time!!! I will be recommending this course to everyone. Its great knowing that I have learned more in 2 weeks then some who study for years. Thank you very much. Now I know what I am doing when giving a massage".

Kelli Marks
Completed Raynor massage course in NSW September 2005

We interviewed a former student of the Brandon Raynor massage training in NSW, see what they have to say about their massage career after completing our massage certificate course

1. Did you enjoy the massage course?

I had a ball to be honest, it was wonderful meeting people from differing backgrounds and even from different countries. In my class there was a young woman called Eleanor who was from the UK and a practicing Lawyer. There was a young man called Ben who was an airline pilot and there was even a self confessed 'hippy' who saw life in a very colorful way. I myself am a trained nurse who was looking for a new career, but still within the 'health field'. I am happy to say that at the ripe old age of 50 I have found it! Ray was a wonderful teacher and made sure that all of us understood exactly the content of the course and encouraged us to fine tune our newly acquired skills.
2. Were you an experienced therapist before you attended the massage training course?
No I was not a trained therapist, although as a nurse I was familiar with some of the course material.

3. Do you feel confident?
Yes I feel confident. I practiced a lot on friends and family though before I actually went into business as a massage therapist.
4. What was the response from the public? Do clients comment on your massages?
I have to say that in the 14 months that I have been in business, the response from the public has been very positive. I have now massaged well over 400 clients and not had one single negative comment. Clients comment all the time about the massages. For example one woman said;

' I can't believe that I had to travel all the way from Brisbane to find a massage as good as yours'
AND 'I can't believe that the pain has gone, the doctor said I would be stuck with it'.

5. Do you have insurance coverage?
Yes I do

6. What are your rates?
Well I live in Moree, a country town, so my rates are probably not as competitive as city rates. I rent a room within a day spa. I pay a percentage of each massage to the owner of the spa. This covers the cost of Room rental, towels, oils, washing, electricity and the use of an electric professional massage table and bookings. Also my services are covered in the monthly newsletter and regular newspaper advertisements. My rates are $75.00 per hour which is comparable with other therapists in the town. I also have a mobile massage service and sometimes massage clients from my home. I work with people in sheltered housing on a monthly basis and also visit retirement homes and villages. I offer a pensioner discount and discount to struggling farmers and their families.

7. What do I like about being a therapist?
I make a positive difference to peoples lives. People feel able to face the world in a more positive and lest restricted frame of mind after having a 'Raynor' massage. I like the flexibility of my work. I am free to come and go as I please. If I need to take a day or a week off for whatever reason then I can do so. The only problem that I have encountered is the age old one of "can I claim this massage on my private insurance"? I explain to people that at the present time no. but it does not seem to stop them from making more appointments.
